What is EBT?

However, there are also some items that cannot be purchased with EBT cards, such as beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, tobacco, vitamins, medicines, supplements, live animals (except shellfish, fish removed from water, and animals slaughtered prior to pick-up from the store), hot foods, and non-food items like cleaning supplies, paper products, pet food, hygiene items, and cosmetics.
What is the Restaurant Meals Program?
The Restaurant Meals Program is a service that allows eligible users of EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) to buy hot meals from participating restaurants with their food benefits. While the option to participate in the program is decided on a state-by-state basis,most states have declined the program.
The range of eligibility for this service is quite narrow and is generally limited to those who are homeless or do not have access to a place where they can prepare their own meals due to age, disability, or other reasons.

* You have a disability and do not have access to adequate cooking facilities
In addition, you must also be enrolled in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and have a valid EBT card. You can apply for SNAP benefits through your local Department of Social Services or Human Services office. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can then fill out the Restaurant Meals Program application form and submit it to your local department office.
